Repair stained and restore old anodised aluminium joinery. By giving a little attention you can have your damaged and faded joinery looking like new again.
Anodized aluminium extrusions can come in clear anodized aluminium which has the look of bare aluminium, and also comes in colours like bronze and other brightly coloured aluminium.
When the finish is removed by harsh chemicals, stucco or mortar, cement or acid based cleaners the surface becomes damaged with white stains which ruins the look.
Restore the lustre (and colour) of anodized aluminium by replacing the missing topcoat with Everbrite Clear Protective Coating.
Clear and coloured anodized aluminium (which fades, chalks and looks dull) can be repaired, rejuvenated and protected to look great again.

How to repair and restore stained, damaged, faded anodised aluminium window frames
Firstly, test the aluminium by cleaning a section and observing while it is clean and wet. The water will replicate the topcoat and if the stains disappear while it it wet, then when Everbrite replaces the topcoat, your problem is solved.
If the stains do not disappear when the aluminium is clean and wet, then further cleaning is necessary. Clean the aluminium until the look is satisfactory when still wet. Some customers have used 1500 grit wet and dry sandpaper they have managed to clear away the very toughest stains.
Then follow the steps below (If you have already undertaken a full clean go straight to Step 4)
It is so easy to apply an Everbrite Coating
CLEAN, RINSE & DRY
1. Remove all traces of polish/products that may have been used previously.
2. Scrub the oxidation off with clean water using the grey preparation pad.
3. Wipe off with a microfibre cloth.
4. Clean again this time using the EZPrep Cleaner solution (Concentrate mixed 1 to 100) Do NOT allow to dry on surface.
5. Rinse well – twice with clean water.
6. Allow to dry. Using a clean microfibre cloth to dry it off is even better as this will remove spotting. Ensure that all surfaces are bone dry.
SOLVENT WIPE & APPLY COATING
7. For Anodised and bare metals – when bone dry solvent wipe with methylated spirits with a clean dry lint free cloth. Do this just before applying the first coat of Everbrite.
8. Apply Coating. Allow 90 minutes to dry between coats. No preparation is required between coats.

NOTE: Step 7 (Solvent wipe with meths) is not shown in this video as this was on powder coated joinery. A solvent wipe with meths is required on anodised joinery just before application of the coating.

How much coating do you need?
Everbrite Protective Coating is sold in complete kits. Different size kits are available for different size projects.
As a rule of thumb 100mL of coating will cover 20 lineal metres of 100mm wide joinery.

Which finish - Natural Gloss or Satin?
Natural Gloss is the common finish used historically on most coloured powder-coated joinery and garage doors. This is the most common finish for mid range and lighter colours.
Natural Gloss has an indefinite shelf-life when stored correctly in its can.
Satin (Matte) is now a common finish used for garage doors and new joinery; including double glazed retrofitted joinery. Everbrite’s Satin Finish is a close match to their new finish.
Satin Finish needs to be stirred well and frequently throughout application and has a shelf life of around 3 to 4 years when stored correctly in its can.
Ongoing Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleaning
When surfaces are coated in Everbrite they are much easier to clean. Use mild soap and water for cleaning.
Do not use solvents or cleaning agents containing petroleum distillates.
Ongoing Maintenance
As with all paints and coatings the time between subsequent recoats is dependent on the quality of the metal and initial powder coating/paint, good surface preparation, original coating application, number and thickness of initial coats, the environment (coastal and sunny aspects) and general use and abuse. Maintenance recoats are applied when bleaching begins to appear. No surface preparation is required other than the surface being clean and dry.
