Powder Coated Metals

Powder Coated Metals - Joinery & Garage Doors

Restore, rejuvenate and protect faded powder coated metals - Powder Coated aluminium window joinery, Anodised aluminium joinery, Garage doors & more...

Sun and salt spray can fade and chalk powder coated metals

Restore your dull, flat-looking oxidised aluminium window and door joinery, garage doors, gates and metal buildings with Everbrite to look like new again. Everbrite will restore original colour and lustre and provide strong sunscreen protection for paint and powder coatings.

Once the metal looks new again, Everbrite will continue to protect and make the surface much easier to clean and maintain to keep the oxidation away.

How long will an Everbrite Protective Coating last?

Everbrite is specifically designed to adhere to all metals and not peel off. When applied according to the instructions with the required number of coats Everbrite provides many years of protection before a maintenance coat is applied straight over the top of the pre-coated surface. As it anneals to itself there is no build-up while adding more UV filters and antioxidants to knock back any rising visible oxidation.

Everbrite Protective Coating is packed with UV stabilisers, UV filters and antioxidants

Everbrite contains U.V. blockers and anti-oxidants to protect the metal from sun, salt air, corrosion, oxidation, rust, fading and more.

NATURAL GLOSS and SATIN finishes are available in a variety of different sized kits.

How do you know if it will work?

How can you tell if Everbrite Protective Coating will rejuvenate/restore your faded powder coating or anodised metal?

You can test the surface to see if it can be restored. Clean an area and observe it while it is clean and wet. If the colour and lustre comes back while the surface is clean and wet, then that is how the surface will look when refinished with Everbrite. Natural Gloss will have a factory look shine, while the satin has a low sheen finish.

Low grade surface scratching and sunscreen lotion damage can usually be repaired too.

Sunscreen lotion on sticky fingers is often a problem for aluminium joinery leaving cloudy finger and hand prints. In most cases Everbrite Protective Coating will make these marks disappear. Click here to see before and after photos of sunscreen lotion damage on french doors that were rememdied with Everbrite.

Deeper scratches, and pitting/corrosion can be sanded off and repaired by touching up with paint suitable for metal; and then coated in Everbrite. Be sure to match the paint colour to what it looks like when it is wet. And make sure that the paint has fully cured before coating in Everbrite. We suggest painting a soft drink can and test a patch periodically with Everbrite.

How easy is it to restore a faded powdercoated, anodised or painted surface?

Everbrite Protective Coating is easy to apply - Wipe on, brush on, roll on or spray on

Everbrite is a protective coating that can be applied to window joinery using a compatible paint brush; or for garage doors, railings, gates and fences, cladding using one of our applicator clear coat pads. There is no requirement  to mask up windows, doors or cladding.

Three Easy Steps...

Step 1

Clean with water & remove oxidation

a) Remove all traces of polish/products that may have been used previously. Your surface needs to be scrupulously clean for good coating adherence.

b) Scrub the oxidation off with clean water using the grey preparation pad.

c) Wipe off well with a microfibre cloth.

Step 2

Clean again with EZPrep & Rinse well

d)  Clean again this time using the EZPrep Cleaner Concentrate Solution (Mix 1 to 100)  Do NOT allow EZPrep to dry on surface.

e)  Rinse off EZPrep twice with clean water.

f).  Using a clean microfibre cloth wipe down to remove water spotting and allow cleaned surface to dry well.

Step 3

Apply Coating

g)  For Powdercoated and Painted metals – when bone dry and scrupulously clean you can apply the coating. Allow  60 to 90 minutes to dry between coats. No other preparation required between coats. Two coats are recommended on surfaces that are exposed to full sun and coastal conditions. A second coat can also be applied later even once the initial coat has cured.

Which finish – Natural Gloss or Satin?

Natural Gloss is the common finish used historically on most coloured powder-coated joinery and garage doors. This is the most common finish for mid range and lighter colours.

Natural Gloss has an indefinite shelf-life when stored correctly in its can.

Satin (Matte)  is now a common finish used for garage doors and new  joinery; including double glazed retrofitted joinery. Everbrite’s Satin Finish is a close match to their new finish.

Satin Finish needs to be stirred well and frequently throughout application and has a shelf life of around 3 to 4 years when stored correctly in its can.

Ongoing Cleaning & Maintenance

Cleaning

When surfaces are coated in Everbrite they are much easier to clean.  Use mild soap and water for cleaning.

Do not use solvents or cleaning agents containing petroleum distillates.

Ongoing Maintenance

As with all paints and coatings the time between subsequent recoats is dependent on the quality of the metal and initial powder coating/paint, good surface preparation, original coating application, number and thickness of initial coats, the environment (coastal and sunny aspects) and general use and abuse.  Maintenance recoats are applied when bleaching begins to appear. No surface preparation is required other than the surface being clean and dry.

Yes. When the Everbite coating touches soft rubber or soft plastic, the plasticizers that hold the rubber together as a solid piece gets released into the air and leaves the rubber tacky. The soft rubber or plastic areas will not harden again and will stay sticky. Weather stripping around windows and garage doors can be very expensive to replace so we always recommend one or a mix of the following:

1. Taping the area with painter’s tape prior to applying the coating, or

2. Ensuring that the coating has fully cured before closing the window, as the weather seal rubbers will  touch the coating if the coating has been applied on the inside area where the window closes.

One of our customers closed his windows too quickly after applying the coating. He reports that he was able to successfully remove the coating from the soft rubbers by wiping with meths, then turps and then hot soapy water. Then clean and dry and wait for the coating to fully cure before closing the window.

Everbrite can be sprayed on using an HVLP spray gun with a fine finish tip. Clean up is with Xylene solvent.
